In 2013, most of Uttarakhand, Garhwal region suffered a heavy cloud bursting rain starting from Kedarnath down to Rishikesh destroying everything on the way, killing thousands of helpless citizens, 5,700 including 950 locals, entrapping 100,000 pilgrims for weeks, uprooting trees, storied hotels, homes, roads, bridges, vehicles, campsites, and, also a magnificent huge Lord Shiva statue sitting on this pedestal in front of Parmarth Niketan.
It was, as they say, anger of Ganga Mata for keeping on polluting the river since centuries.
